I actually found the door code behind the fuse box area (Driver Side) on my brother's 2000 Ford Expedition EB. There is a big white sticker with 5 numbers starting with number 1####. Hope this helps...

Plug in a portable code reader. It will display the trouble code, then you find it in the book provided with the code reader. That code will tell you the area that is causing the light to come on.
No vacuum tubes on the Dakota. It uses electric servos.

i should be on the card in your owners manual, if not the dealer you may or may not have bought it from will have it.
On a 2003 Ford Explorer : Open the drivers door and there is an information sticker on the latch pillar You will find the axle code under " axle " Once you have the axle code you can determine the axle ratio
need the code off rear or find RPO code inside glove compartment
Call or Visit a Ford/Lincoln dealer and they will be able to retrieve the original code from their data base.
