(The tracking equipment (usually in the hands of the police) is SUPPOSED to be used to find a person who is in a life threatening situation using their unique cell phone signal to triangulate the phone's position using the closest cell towers as the base of the triangulation. It is technically illegal to use these devices to find ONLY a lost phone, but money makes many illegal things invisible!)
