Bath tubs are very hard to replace. I would call a plumber on this one myself.
I have changed out a lot of bath tubs in my 40 years of Plumbing. And they are
not easy at all. If you do try, i would only do so if you had all walls down around
tub. And always change your trip waste and if you have a drum trap, always
remove it also. And replace with ( P ) trap. If you already have a ( P ) trap they
hardly ever seem to match up to new tub. And always install new faucet.
Most likely if you try, you will be calling plumber. So save yourself time by doing so at the first. Expect to pay a plumber and helper around 2,500.00 just for
labor. To install all that i have mentioned w/walls already being down. At least
you can save yourself money on walls being down. Hope you take my advice
on this one.

The piece in the drain is screwed into the drain under the tub It is usually corroded and is not going to unscrew. You can use a sawsall or jig saw to cut the drain in 3 or 4 places around the opening and peel the piece out. You can also disconnect the drain under the tub and just leave it on the tub. There should be access to the back side of the tub. Usually a panel or door in the back of a closet that is in the room beside the bath. If there is no access, you will need to make one so that you can connect the drain to the new tub.
15-16 inches from back wall. 8-10 inches from side wall tub drain is on. Measurements are to center of tub drain hole. Measurements are close, not exact, and are for a standard tub.
A right-hand drain applies usually to bath-tubs and means the drain is on YOUR RIGHT when you are standing in front of the tub.
You can access the tub drain by cutting through the ceiling below, or cutting through the side wall backing up to the tub.

Some medical insurance will cover the cost of a handicap tub if it is a medical neccessity.
You would have to build a platform for the tub to sit on. About 3 inches if you are using a floor drain. There is a trap right after the floor drain so you would not need one at the tub. If possible you could position the tub directly over the floor drain but that would eliminate the floor drain which would be a problem if the basement every flooded.
tub baths are when you take a bath inside the stone in a tub
That depends on the volume/size of the tub in question. A "tub" could be a butter tub, a mash tub a bath-tub etc.
