1991 Ford Ranger uses R-12 refrigerant which is no longer available to the do-it-yourselfer. You will have to take your pickup to an a/c service place to charge your a/c.

You should not put any oil in a Ford air conditioning compressor. The air conditioning compressor runs on Freon. The system should take about one pound of Freon.
