The City of Honolulu receives its water from an underwater artesian aquifer, similar to other tropical islands. There are several pump stations throughout the city constantly pumping water from underground. Honolulu doesn't pump any water from above-ground sources.

From the rain. Shortage of fresh water is a constant challenge in Hawaii. Reservoirs have been built to capture and hold rainwater during the rainy season.
