That's why doctors will often recommend eating more food with calcium and iron to stay strong against the ''sorption'' of nutrients from the body of the woman.

The fetus is supplied oxygen and nutrients from the placenta, the fetus and placenta are connected by the umbilical cord. Everything goes through the cord.
