How is citric acid produced?
Good question! citric acid is produced in a cycle called Krebs Cycle. As Pyruvic acid enters the mitochondrion, carbon is removed, forming co2, and electrons are removed,
changing NAD+ to NADH. Co-enzyme A joins the 2-carbon molecule, forming acetyl-CoA. Acetyl-CoA then adds the 2 carbon acetyl group to a 4-carbon compound, forming citric acid.
Before the Krebs cycle there is the glycolysis cycle. In this cycle the product is the pyruvic acid. So after that the Krebs cycle or the Citric acid cycle starts, which starts off with pyruvic acid. Then the election transport cycle. This might be confusing but if you see a diagram of these cycles, that will help you a lot!
hi my name is austin im looking for more firends so if you see this add me on facebook @ sexyzigrat@hotmail.com :)
It is most commonly found in citrus fruits like Oranges, grapefruits, lemons, mandarins, tangelos, etc.
Citric acid is also produced by some molds and that is how it is commercially produced.
An acid is made up of hydrogen and oxygen. It has more hydrogen than oxygen.
Are you looking for the chemical formula? Well then, citric acid is made up of carbon 6, hydrogen 8, and oxygen 7.
Citric acid is made up of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen: the chemical formula is C6H8O7.
Citric acid can be extracted from the juice of citrus fruits by adding calcium oxide (lime). The citric acid can be recovered from its calcium salt by adding sulfuric acid.
It is made by the Americans eating so much fast food!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Citric acid is used to celate copper in formulations.
hardly...... !
These salts are called citrates.

No. Citric acid is an organic acid
As I know sugarcane does not contain citric acid but lemon contains citric acid.
Ascorbic Acid is C6H8O6 Citric Acid is C6H8O7
It is a solid. See the discussion page for further info. (It does not matter that it is dispersed, it still maintains its fundamental state of matter.) Citric acid (anhydrous) is a solid at temperatures below 153C (307F). Citric acid becomes liquid at 153C. At some temperature well above that, pure citric acid may enter vapor phase, but its likely the energetic state of atoms in the molecule at this temperature will cause it to come apart. The boiling point of a solution of citric acid in water depends on the concentration of citric acid in the water.

Citric acid is considered to be a weak acid.
Citric and acid ARE words, so the word form is citric acid!
The acid found in citrus fruits is called the citric acid and can provide a sour taste and helps fight of predators with its sting when it gets into your eyes so the acid in citrus fruit is citric :)
Citric acid is not malleable.
Deuteromycotes
Citric acid (which is responsible for the sour taste) and ascorbic acid (which most of us know as vitamin C).
Lemon is not a citric acid but it chiefly contains citric acid!
As I know sugarcane does not contain citric acid but lemon contains citric acid.
Ascorbic Acid is C6H8O6 Citric Acid is C6H8O7
No, it has fatty acids but not citric (citric = citrus)
