James 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Primarily James means that when we sin against someone else, we should be prompt to confess this sin to the person we have wronged.

These words imply that our Christian life is not an isolated thing between each man and God, with which no other Christian has anything to do.

All Christians are members of a body. No one should think that his faults concern himself alone, and that no one else has an interest in his being a good man. The text implies further that we may get much help by being open about our faults. Prayer is a means by which every one can help his neighbour, and prayer is not the only means. Our friends can give us sympathy; can sometimes give us advice; can always give us encouragement.

Why don't Christians confess?

Protestant Christians do not believe it necessary to have confession as the Catholic church does. It derives from the scripture that tells us that if we confess our sins, God will forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. But our confession is to God, not to the preacher/priest.

Are catholics the only ones that confess their sins?

No, christians also confess their sins to the one and only true god, the god of Abraham and Jacob. Hope you enjoy ;-)

Who should Christians confess to?

Two verse come to mind:1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. To God - this verse is talking about Christians maintaining their fellowship with God. In order for a Christian to walk day by day in fellowship with God and with fellow believers, they must confess their sins."He who covers his sins will not prosper: but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy" (Prov 28:13).andJas 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.To fellow believers - I think the thought here is primarily when we sin against someone else, we should be prompt to confess this sin to the person we have wronged.

Why do people confess their sins?

James 5:16 " Confess therefore your sins one to another: and pray one for another, that you may be saved. For the continual prayer of a just man availeth much." Matthew 9 shows that Jesus gave men power to forgive sins. Confession forgives us our sins and gives us the grace to stop sinning. Through baptism, we enter into a friendship with God; through confession, we mend our relationship with Christ after sin. In confession, we don't just confess to a priest but to Christ who works through the priest.

What does 'confess your faults' mean in the Bible?

"Confess your faults" in the Bible refers to acknowledging and admitting one's wrongdoings, sins, or shortcomings before God or others. It is about taking responsibility for one's actions and seeking forgiveness and reconciliation through repentance.

Because he is the only one who has the power from God to give us absolution for our sins.

The bible says to confess with your mouth... how can one confess with your mouth if you cannot speak?

You can write it down, or silently pray to god. God bless all, have a great day :)

What acts say you are sorry for your sins?

I believe confessing one's sins is a way saying that you are sorry for sins you committed. Protestants repent their sins out loud, and Catholics confess to a priest in confessional. ____ If you have caused hurt to another person, apologizing to them in person is also important, and also making a real effort not to commit the same kind of sin again. This can be difficult but it means a lot and shows that you are sorry.

Who do you confess your sins to if you are a Jew?

A Jew seeks forgiveness for his sins from the one against whom he sinned. No human being can forgive sins against god, and god doesn't forgive sins against other people. The Jew has to discuss it directly with the appropriate victim of his sin.

What bible verse says the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much?

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Why do Catholics confess to a a priest when the Bible says only God can forgive you?

The reason Catholics confess to a priest is because they claim that the priest is simply relaying what you said to God. But, even this statement is contradicting the Bible. 1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; There is only one "middle-man" between you and God, and that is the man Christ Jesus. So unless we put Catholicism in authority over what the Bible actually says, the Catholics are 100% wrong in the case of confessing their sins to a priest.

Does the pope confess his sins to the other two popes?

That would be impossible as there is only one pope. He has his own personal confessor, usually a local priest.
