Labs, The ears of a corn plant were originally very small, and not edible to man kind. Once humansbecame more developed as a country we began to identify all of the main chaataristics (of genetics) in corn, and began to mutate their forms to both become larger, edible, and in the latter years, sweet.

Sweet corn occurs as a spontaneous mutation in field corn it was grown by several Native American tribes. The Iroquois tribe gave the first recorded sweet corn to the European settlers.
