On the Girl Scout Junior sash, the Sign of the Star goes directly below the Brownie Wings.
On the vest, the Sign of the Star goes directly below the membership tab on the left side of the vest.
To earn the sign of the star, you need to be a Girl Scout Junior. There are five steps for completing the Sign of the Star: 1) earn a badge that teaches you a new skill or that is a topic you know nothing about 2) Do at least four activities from the following badges: A Healthier You Being My Best Looking Your Best 3) Demonstrate or display one of your talents to your troop or others. 4) Complete two activities from the "It's Great to Be a Girl" chapter of the Junior Girl Scout Handbook. Note: The Junior Girl Scout Handbook and the Junior Girl Scout Badge Book are being discontinued. As of September 2012, the new "Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting" will be the books used and the Sign of the Star will no longer be required.
Due to the transition to new Girl Scout materials the Girl Scout Junior Dance Badge is no longer available. The new badge that is probably the most similar is the Junior Musician Badge. It is circle shape with a part brown and part pink background. The brown part is shaped like a guitar and has guitar strings on it and the pink part has a treble clef sign on it. See Related Links for a link to the badge in the Girl Scout Shop.
The Boy Scouts were started before the Girls Scouts and most of the "lore" such as signs was already well developed even in the first handbooks so it would have to be that the Boy Scout's sign came before the Girl Scout's.
To become a girl scout, one must look around locally and find a girl scout camp in their community. After finding said girl scout camp, they must approach the executives and see if they are looking for new members. Another way to sign up for girl scouts is to look at their website online. For example, to become a part of the Girl Scouts of the USA, one can go on their not-for-profit website and sign up there.
Depends on the Troops bylaws. Some Troops do not allow Scouts to sign off on other Scouts.
=Well if you want to be in a scouts why don't you sign up for boy scouts.=

First, you sign up to be a Girl Scout. Then you are ready to sign up for Girl Scout camp! In addition: Some Girl Scout councils offer girls a chance to attend Girl Scout camp by including the membership registration fee as part of the camp fee. So, even if you are not a Girl Scout, by signing up to attend Girl Scout camp you become a member of Girl Scouts.

Sign up at your school. In addition: In the USA, someone interested in becoming a member of Girl Scouts should contact the local Girl Scout council. Use the GSUSA Council Finder in the Related Links. You will need to fill out a membership registration form which one parent or guardian will need to sign, pay the national membership dues (currently $12.00), and the council will find or organize a troop for you to join. Some areas have membership sign up events, usually in September, right after a new school year starts. The event may be held at the schools or in other places. The process is similar for Girl Scouts and Girl Guides in other countries. Contact the national organization or the local division/council and they will take care of registering the girl and finding a troop for her.
