There is such a thing as a golden seal because i'm a biologist, the seal isn't really gold.
You can check your degree certificate to see if it is original or not by looking for a raised seal on the certificate. Usually an original will have such a raised seal, a copy will not.

Take yourself , , the birth certificate , all your ID and go to the nearest Social Security office. You may be able to do this online, but it's better to go and let them see the original birth certificate with the seal.

There are no actual seals that are named golden seals, but the harp seal is sometimes called a golden seal because of its coloring. There are about 7 million harp seals in the world today but they are hunted yearly.
No. I don't know of any country in which birth, marriage or certificates have a raised seal. Obviously, if a photocpy or translation of a birth certificate is notarized - that is, duly certified as accurate - then the person notarizing the certificate would normally apply a raised seal.
