The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) did not come from Europe. It began in 1830 in upstate New York, USA. Mormonism first reached Europe in 1837, when a group of missionaries was sent to Great Britain. In fact, the oldest continuous Mormon congregation in the entire world is located in Preston, England. It was established in 1837 shortly after the missionaries arrived there.

Missionaries were sent to other European nations shortly afterward, and Mormon converts became quite plentiful in Germany, Holland, and Scandinavia.
