(8/29/09) 4.0 is the current edition available, so 3.5 is currently out-of-print. Your best bet is to look online at any site that has used books: Amazon, eBay and the like. You might also try Craigslist. If you're willing to buy used, you should find something, but you might actually find some of the remaining new stock, or get a like new book.

The other thing you can do is look for local game shops. Most towns of 100,000 and most major cities have a gaming or comic book store of some sort, and they may be able to help you track down a copy, though they have probably long sold out of any new copies they can get and again you'll have to settle for used.

Remember, the 3.5 SRD is online at:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35

That's free, and will get you really far.

Good luck!

Is Dungeons and Dragons an Alternate Reality Game?

While Dungeons & Dragons shares some characteristics with Alternate Reality Games, it is much better classified as a Tabletop Role-Playing game. There are firm rules in place for players in Dungeons & Dragons whereas ARGs have loose guidelines for them. ARGs also do not require players to assume alternate identities, or even to roleplay, which is the foundation of any Dungeons & Dragons game.

How do you roll up your character in Dungeons and Dragons?

To 'roll up' a character means using a computer program or table to roll traits, skills, features and details of characters with a dice or other algorithm, which is only in World of Warcraft and other games, not DnD. In DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) to create a character you have to follow the steps in the Players handbook. If you don't have it, in each edition there are different steps, so you may have to search them up in the dnd wiki. www.dandwiki.com ~Inspektor

Which of the 3 Dungeons and Dragons book should you read first?

I would recommend the 4th Edition Players Handbook. 4th Edition is the latest version and has been simplified a bit to help encourage new players. This would make a good starting place. 3.5 Ed. Is more complicated but many players like it due to a greater range of options in gameplay and character creation.

What is in the dungeons and dragons master guide and handbook have in them?

The Players Handbook (1, 2, and 3) contains all of the rules to play the game from the player's perspective. It contains races privy to the PHB you get, and classes likewise. Also, it has a number of Magic items that you can equip characters with. The Dungeon Masters guide (1 & 2) contains all the rules to play the game from the DM's perspective. It contains tables, ideas, and various guidelines for doing whatever you need. It also has some magical items to equip your players with.

What are Dungeons and Dragons characters?

AnswerDungeons and Dragons is a complex role playing game which became popular in the 1970's. Characters were created using dice and a Dungeon Master controlled the game. It is the precurser to the popular net game World of Warcraft, sharing many of the same features. It is a pencil and paper RPG (role playing game), meaning that the action takes place in your head and stats, and other things are written down. While there are rule books for Dungeons and Dragons, many people make alterations to suit their particular, and the groups style of play.

Do girls play dungeons and dragons both online and on paper?

Absolutely! In my personal experience, I've been in groups where the male to female ratio of players is exactly 1:1. It really is a game for everyone!

a set of multiple 6 sided dice, one or two 10 sided dice, an 8 sided dice, a 4 sided dice, a 12 sided dice, a 20 sided dice, the players handbook, the monsters manual, multiple people (at least 2 one of which must have the dungeon masters guide) and paper and pencil.

What familiars can you get in dungeons and dragons?

Depending on your class it can be very different. Basic familiars from the wizard/sorcerer list include: Bat, Cat, Weasle, raven, rat, frog, etc. They each give bonuses to certin aspects of your character and are found in the Players handbook. Also for advanced familiars, you need a feat from a book (i think its the book of exaulted deeds) they are upgraded versions of the first list. ~Mr. Unknownvengance

Games you can play with other people?

Wow. This is vague. If you're talking about a video game, check the back of the game case, it will tell you how many players it supports. Board games also state on the box how many players can play it at once. Table-top role-playing games like Dungeons and Dragons are designed for multiple players.
