the word angels is a mistranslation the word should be messenger
The Bible teaches that we are to pray to God alone and does not properly belong to anyone else. Prayer in terms of worship is always in the Bible properly addressed to the one true God alone. (The word pray is also of course used in terms of a request) Since angels are only God's messengers and are created beings then prayer cannot be addressed to them. Prayer is also a form of worship as it involves addressing a higher power and it is certainly forbidden to worship angels, as indicated in the verse below.
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
