The firing order on this engine is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The distributor rotates clockwise, and the #1 cylinder is located driver's side front of engine. Remove the #1 spark plug and turn the engine until the piston is at TDC (Top Dead Center) on the compression stroke. Once you get the piston at TDC look inside the distributor. The rotor will be pointing to the # 1 plug connection. The next connection going around clockwise is # 8 and the next is # 4, etc.

I have an 81 with a 350 and I'm pretty sure from empty it takes 10 and 1/2 quarts.
either a turbo 350 or a 700r4 (added to answer) the only trans available was the 700 R4 in 1987. 81 was the last year for the 350 and at that is was electronic lockup. 1979 was the last year for the non-lockup 350.
If it is a 305 (5.0) or the 350 (5.7) the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 . Dist. turns clock wise. even numbers are on the passenger side of the engine odd numbers on the drivers side , hope this helps
