I have an 81 with a 350 and I'm pretty sure from empty it takes 10 and 1/2 quarts.
A C6 transmission including the torque converter will take 12.5 quarts.
Answer12 including the torque converter.
14 quarts of transmission fluid with torque converter emptied, 7-8 quarts of transmission fluid with just the pan removal and pan emptied.
One qt.
The Torque Converter uses the same fluid as the transmission. The transmission has a filter. So, in effect...the answer is "Yes" torque converter fluid is filtered. However, the torque converter has no special fluid of its own.
7.4 Quarts Application: With automatic transmission Total refill (includes torque converter)
4 quarts go in the torque converter and 3 in the pan.
Is it a deep or shallow transmission pan? In a shallow pan, it's 8 quarts not including the torque converter. 12 if you do include the torque C.
The transmission holds 8.6 quarts total including the torque converter. A fluid change takes about 5 quarts. Use the dipstick to avoid over filling.
The total fluid is 9 quarts. When draining the fluid only about 4 quarts will come out as the rest stays in the torque converter.
Dry fill is about 9 quarts.
