A C6 transmission including the torque converter will take 12.5 quarts.
you must change out the tourqe converter or hydrolic kit on trans.
The transmission is not building up enough pressure to shift. Check your fluid and fill if needed. If fluid is fine change the trans. filter and the pressure modulator. If that does not fix it have the tourqe converter flushed. If that does not fix it, you may need to have the transmission overhauled or have the transmission replaced Another thing, check your linkages!!. there could be a lose linkage on the transmission, or it could be seased.
if they are the the same transmission you can, but if you are going from a 4L60e to a 700r you need to modify your tourqe converter Locke up connector. if you look in Summit or Jegs catalogs, they carry adaptors ect,
lots of work , unbolt front sub frame , pull tires ,lower balljoints ,exaust, half shafts, unbolt trany from engine and pull all connections .undo the motor and trany mounts and hold up engine and unbolt tourqe converter lots of work , unbolt front sub frame , pull tires ,lower balljoints ,exaust, half shafts, unbolt trany from engine and pull all connections .undo the motor and trany mounts and hold up engine and unbolt tourqe converter
it sounds like your tcc (tourqe converter clutch) switch is faulty. this is a common gm problem.
After you have removed the cover from the lower half of the torque converter housing and driveplate you can remove the four bolts that secure the torque converter to the driveplate. Remove them one at a time by rotating the engine so that each bolt comes into view at the bottom where you have removed the driveplate cover.
i also have a 01 kia spectra. i have personaly rebuilt my transmission with only 62,000 mile on it your problem sounds like the TCC solenoid (tourqe converter clutch) solenoid is not comming on this could be caused by a faulty sonenoid, bad ground. or faulty transmission. kia has had a lot of problems with thes transmissions. they are the same transmission that ford uses in there escorts, tracers also Mazda uses this transmission in the Mazda protoge
a slipping transmission, a bad tourqe converter, wrong firing order, wrong gap on the plugs, dist. cap put on wrong, to name a few.
the first time tourqe them down to 65 then the second time around tourqe them down to 80 that's what i did on my 350 and i have no problems

Check the Tourqe Converter fuse, in the fuse box under the hood.(At least that that's where it is on a 96.)
