In the engine compartment. It is the same reservoir that supplies the windshield wipers. The fluid is pumped to the rear window via tubing.
The Toyota Highlander rear wiper blade is held in place by two retaining clips. Remove the retaining clips and the wiper blade will slide out.
It is attached to the bottom of the washer reservoir. I found that the easiest way to access this was to remove the plastic wheel well.
It uses the same resovoir as the windshield.
The fuse for the window washer on a 2001 Toyota Highlander can be found in the underneath the driver side dash. It is a 20 amp fuse labeled as WIPER.
It is attached to the wiper motor.

There is only one reservoir for both the rear and front. If the front is working so will the back. There is only one reservoir for both the rear and front. If the front is working so will the back.
Access to it is located behind the glove box.
Assuming that your 2001 is the same as my 2000, the pump is atached at the bottom of the fluid reservoir. It does not need to be primed. --Ken
The windshield wiper relay is located in the electrical power distribution center.
The owners manual shows that the washer fluid for the liftgate is supplied by the reservoir for the windshield
The 2001-2007 Toyota Highlander wiper blade sizes are 22" drivers side, 19" passenger side and a fairly specialized 12" rear wiper that is difficult to find in the stores. Since there are currently over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.
