The starter motor is located on the back side of the engine (closest to the firewall) underneath the fuel injection/intake manifold. If you are going to replace it, first disconnect the battery, then remove the main power cable (heavy wire) and the start wire (light wire). Next remove the two bolts for the intake manifold support bracket and remove bracket. Remove one bolt on starter rear support bracket and 3 bellhousing flange blots (two accessible from starter side, on accessible from bellhousing side. Good luck Malcolm
In a 1992 BMW 325i, the starter is located towards the back of the engine, almost up against the firewall. you gotta kinda stick ur head down low and look in between the back of the intake and the engine. look for the red power cable that leads u right to it.
The starter motor is at the back of the engine on the left hand side as you are looking into the engine bay. It is only accessable from underneath and you need to remove the panel under engine to gain access. I am presently struggling to remove one as it is very tight for space. They are surprisingly small for a v8 and sheilded from vision by an exhaust shield and their own shield. I believe they are only held in by two helycoil bolts, the top one of which is pretty fiddly to access as you have to do by feel! This is what I am finding unless I am going wrong! Good luck.
Look at the lower end of the engine Probably rear
To get to the starter you must remove the upper intake manifold first.
Trace or follow the large wire/cables from the battery. One has to go to the starter or to a realy that then goes to the starter feed post.
There is no starter relay. The starting signal goes thru the ECU.
The 1998 Ford Escort starter motor is located on the rear of the engine. The starter motor will be on the right hand side, near the bottom of the motor.
Yes, a starter motor can be placed in a Vectra CDTI 55.
Its a starter that has a set of gears between the motor and the starter pinion which allows higher-speed, lower-current, lighter and more compact motor assembly while increasing cranking torque.
The single click, that you hear when the starter switch is operated, is the solenoid making the high tension connection to the starter motor. If the starter motor doesn't turn over, you will need to check both the battery feed to the solenoid and the feed from the solenoid to the starter motor (this is typically a short length of braided cable). I have known this cable to corrode through. If it has, the easiest remedy, is to replace the entire starter motor.
When you hit the starter button the starter relay send power to the starter. the starter solenoid pushes the starter shaft outward and the starter turns. When the solenoid moves the shaft it is connected to the jackshaft which ingages the starter gear on the clutch

Sounds like a starter motor/solenoid fault.
To remove a starter from a 2004 BMW 325ci, you need to first remove the screws from the top of the motor. You will see a tube looking device about 3 inches from the top, on the left. This needs to be unscrewed, and the wires should come out with it.
