The last I read on the internet, Mike Kelly lives in Long Island, N.Y. But I haven't been able to find any recent news about him. There are a number of great photographs of him on the official Duprees web page-but they are from the his younger days when he was with the group. Such an amazing voice-with looks to match-and so much soul within. I am a real fan and would appreciate any news.

Michael has formed a new group but is not yet able to use the name Duprees. He has appeared in and around places in North Jersey and will be at the Brown Stone in Paterson on 4/30. The sound and voice is terrific for the whole group, but he never mentions the Duprees and has nothing negative to say about them. He still looks great. Mike L , Jersey Shore, NJ

∙ 15y agoMike Kelly recorded the original demo recordings that were presented to George Paxton the record producer. Mike Kelly left the group, was replaced by Joey Canazzaro aka Joey Vann. Mike rejoined the group when Joey Vann decided to go solo. Mike Kelly and John Salvato are currently awaiting the outcome of their 2008 lawsuit against the estate of Mike Arnone and the current line up called "The Duprees" aka The Testa Group. Richie Rosato, who sang lead for over 20-years, left the group and is now performing with the NJ based "Infernos".

∙ 11y agoThe answer to your questions is yes, Mike Kelly was in many respects a better singer than Joey Vann. But Vann's voice was alsa very good, and probably more marketable to the general public. Kelly's voice was almost too good for Rock n Roll. He had a range that far exceeded most singers at the time. One only has to listen to Kelly's version of Exodus to be convinced of his incredible talent. Sadly, Mike Kelly passed away on August 7, 2012.
