Russian is spoken in Russia and former Soviet countries such as Azerbaidjan, Armenia, Belorussia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Moldavia, Latvia, Lithtuania, Estonia. In some of them it is the second national language, some countries like Estonia try to get rid of Russian language. Ukranian and Belorussian languages are very similar to Russian. In Russia we sometimes use Ukranian and Belorussian words for fun, because they sound like sloppy Russian.

Russia and the former Sovietskaya Ukraine. ( the Soviet Ukraine). My dad went out with a girl who hailed from Odessa. She was introduced at a party. He remarked, oh, a Russian Girl! she retorted- I am Not Rosshann! I am Of ( bad grammar) the Sovietskaya Ukraine! ( everybody laughed). well Soviet is the same thing, Nyet?
