In front of the brake pedal lever, accessible from above the panel over the foot pedals.
Switch loose or faulty? Check if the switch is fitted to the brake pedal. Perhaps the bracket has worked loose.
It is the brakes light switch
Most likely cause would be the stop lamp switch, located on the brake pedal. Do you know the code? If the code is C1200 then it IS the stop lamp switch. Just remove the underdash panel and you can see and replace the switch.
The 1997 Toyota Avalon stop light switch simply plugs in and out. Take hold of the stop light switch and pull outward. Plug the new stop light switch in.
There are two things that should be examined the brake stop switch and wheel speed sensor. If changing first the brake stop switch does not work. Then remove both wheel speed sensors located at front wheels. That should resolve your ABS light problem.
