you CAN NOT use a slim Jim on these cars for the reason that the rods are positioned in just a way that you cannot grab them with the 'Jim. the solenoid rod is right next to the lock mechanism within a plastic retainer that fully shelds the actuator. and the manual lock rods and poppers are right at the top of the door roughly 1.5 inches from the sill and the 'Jim cannot reach around the window and up along the sill close enough to grab and pull the rod horizontally.
If you lock yourself outta your car, you are in real big trouble with these cars, that's why they have a safety mechanism within the locks that doesn't allow you to lock the driver door without either the key or the FOB. and if you can, someone forced the lock and broke the stop-catch, or purposely cut off the stop-catch.

To learn how to do it is really more a matter of learning hands-on. What it does is it fits in the space between the window and the door, and you use it to hook the linkage to the locking mechanism in order to manually move it to an unlock position.
