I have the same problem - I was recommended a brake fluid drain and brake fluid sensor replacement - haven't done it yet, but hopefully it works. Dealer quoted me $190.
I would check switches for faulty sensor on emergency brake...GOOD LUCK
Problem with the ABS, take it to a pro.
Check your brake fluid level!
In your gauge cluster there is a brake light which lights up if the emergency (parking) brake is engaged or if the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder is low ( in your engine compartment) Also there is an ABS brake warning light that comes on if something is wrong with the ABS braking system - fuse , sensor , wiring connection etc. If it's anything more than releasing your parking brake , get it checked by a professional.
The brake light in your dash comes on , if the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder in your engine compartment is LOW , and also if your emergency brake is on
A problem has been detected with the Anti-lock Brake System : It could be a fuse ( blown or not installed all the way ) A sensor , or some other problem As long as the red " BRAKE " light in your dash is not on , you still have " normal " brakes
Check brake fluid level Check to make sure emergency brake is fully released Check wire on switch of emergency brake (Maybe loose)
Check the brake fluid level in your brake master cylinder in the engine compartment ( the brake light also comes on if the parking / emergency brake is applied )
If by any chance you are referring to the " BRAKE " light in your dash That comes on to indicate ( 2 different things ) Either your emergency brake is on or the BRAKE FLUID LEVEL IS LOW in the brake master cylinder located in the engine compartment
Check the level of brake fluid in the master cylinder Make sure parking brake is fully released
I would start by cheking the brake fluid level. It settles down during the night and wen you start driving the fluid shakes enough to turn the brake fluid level sensor out. Maybe it is time to have a look in your brake pads, as they worn out your brake fluid level goes down. And normally that's the brake pads maintenance warning light. Good luck! Cheers Pedro
On a 1994 Honda Accord, the brake lamp comes on when a tail light is no longer working. The burned-out bulb needs to be replaced. The brake lamp will not come on after the bulb is replaced.
