Could be the the V6 or the V8 engine but, the ECT sensor should be next to the thermostat housing or on the drivers side of the engine between the back two spark plugs.
Probably the coolant temperature sensor. That's what it is on an '86.
Yes
1977-85 Impala, 1977-90 Caprice
Yes
Chevy didn't offer a 350 in an 86 Camaro, but if they did, it would theoretically work in an 87 Caprice.
No , a 1986 Chevy Caprice is REAR wheel drive
No
The 5.0L 305 V8
Not likely since the 93 Caprice 305 was fuel-injected and the 86 Monte Carlo 305 was carbureted
Maybe the temp gauge works, but there is a separate coolant temperature sensor for the engine control system, which includes the fans. Check it out.
I put 275 25 24 on my 86 box chevy caprice
Blower fan? Cooling fan? Check fuses Check to see if you are getting power to fan motor If so --bad fan motor If not -- does it comes on when A/C /defrost is on? Coolant temperature sensor?
