The Chevrolet Lumina fuel pump is powered by the electrical system. The fuel pump has a ground wire and a positive wire. The positive wire goes to the fuel pump relay switch.
You can test the fuel pump by touching the positive wire on the positive post of the battery. You will need to ground the ground wire.
It is the ground wire for the fuel pump. The Red wire is the power wire for the pump. the dark blue is the signal wire for the gauge and the black is the ground for the gauge.

most fuel pump the ground is directly on the frame that holds the pump in the tank and if its not, its not gonna be far from the module itself.
a likely fuel pump failure HAS THE PARKING BRAKE BEEN WORKED ON RECENTLY?= THERE IS A GROUND WIRE FOR THE FUEL PUMP SECURED TO THE PARKING BRAKE MOUNTING BOLT ON THE UPPER (DASH MOUNTED END OF THE PARKING BRAKE LEVER) IF THE NUT SECURING THE GROUND WIRE IS LOOSE THE FUEL PUMP WILL NOT OPERATE. THIS CAN BE AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM.
Inspect the ground wire for the pump assembly. It may be loose, broken or rusty.
Most likely causes are a wire shorted to ground and a bad fuel pump.
You may have a problem with the fuel pump relay. Or the positive wire may be grounding. Check for continuity from this wire to a good ground.
The fuel stop solenoids on a DT466 are actually three wire types. There is a ground wire, a pull-in wire, and an ignition wire. It will be on the main engine harness just above the pump.
Should be 12 volts, check the fuel pump relay and clean the ground wire to the fuel pump. In fact clean all the ground connections on the vehicle.
The most common cause for no power to a fuel pump is a broken wire. A wire might be broken or the ground wire might be corroded.
