After pulling the inside hood release, pry open the hood slightly with you fingers and directly above the VW symbol, below the lip of the hood is your latch release. if it's not visible or broken, you'll nee a needle nose pliers to grab the stem and pull towards you while lifting the hood at the same time. hope this helps.

Takes a little while to find just the right spot. Push toward the driver side (left) until latch releases.
