I am a metalworker, I spend all day every day making things out of mild steel, and I can tell you it is used EVERYWHERE! The brackets that hold up a shelf are made from mild steel. The chassis and body panels of most cars are mild steel. There is literally millions of uses for it. It can be cut, drilled, machined, threaded or tapped, rolled, formed, bent, welded, forged in a mould, folded (to form a weapon or tool), pressed, stamped, spun into wire or cable, magnetised... the list goes on.
