How do you remove a manual fuel pump from a 62 Thunderbird with air conditioning?
I would remove the oil filter first. (Good time to change your oil.) Disconnect the rubber fuel line at the input of the pump and at the steel fuel line from the fuel tank. Disconnect the output steel line that goes to the carb. Tie this line off so it's out of your way. Your fittings in the pump may come off also. If so, make sure you have them on your new pump. Remove the two 9/16" bolts that hold the fuel pump to the block. It's a very tight space but it can be done. Regards, Keith

you would also need to replace both intake and exhaust manifolds. also, does the new head have a provision to power a mechanical fuel pump? The 2 valve per cylinder head has a shaft driven off the back of the camshaft to power a mechanical fuel pump. I know later samurais used fuel injection, so they needed a more powerful fuel pump and did not have the mechanical low pressure fuel pump that would deliver fuel to a carb.
