Silk comes from the silk worm's cocoon. The silkworms are fed mulberry leaves and cared for until they go into their cocoon. Then they are put in hot and cold water and the cocoon is unraveled. Then it is packed in small bundles. Then, you finally have your silk! :)

Silk is not "grown", per se, it's the product of the coccoon of the silkworm. Silkworms eat the leaves of mulberry trees and when they create their coccoons, the material from them is spun in to silk. It is thought that the use of silk originated in China.
