It's located on the right side of the bike. Pull the seat off and the right side case and remove the 3 allen bolts holding on the tupperware. I found it by trial and error. Having owned a Honda ST1100, I pulled the left side case and tupperware without even thinking that maybe Honda had switched the battery to the other side of the bike on the ST1300. Yep, it wasn't there.
The Honda ST1300 has had some stability problems, called Pan Weave, that has been noted at high speeds. Other that that, Honda has a good reputation, but there is little a motorbike maker can do in the area of crash safety.
My friend told me he was in Germnay and decided to see what his 02 ST1300 would do on an unrestricted autobahn at full throttle. Lying low with the screen down to lowest position he wound the throttle open to the stop and ran for a number of miles. The GPS recorded 147mph as the highest speed reached.
Cycle Canada in their November/December issue reports "Not every Honda dealer will receive a VFR, and the price, though unannounced, is expected to be near the ST1300's $21,000." American pricing may be extrapolated from that to get an estimate.
