Should be on the passengers side under hood, back of engine and fire wall. Look down.
There is no dipstick. It is a matenance free trans.
On a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis : The automatic transmission fluid level dipstick is in the engine compartment , near the firewall , towards the passenger side of the engine
On a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis : The automatic transmission fluid level dipstick should be in the engine compartment , near the firewall ( the metal wall that divides the engine compartment from the passenger compartment ) just towards the passenger side of the vehicle ( where the rear of the engine connects to the transmission )
Check under the hood, passenger side, between fire wall and engine, look down.
Rear of engine near firewall.
You pour it through a thin necked funnel into the dipstick tube
I was not aware that the Grand Marquis came in a manual Transmission! If it was an Automatic Transmission I would say take it to a Transmission Shop and have it looked at.
To add transmission fluid to a 1997 Mercury Grand Marquis, locate the transmission dipstick tube, which is usually found near the back of the engine, on the driver's side. Remove the dipstick, and use a funnel to pour the appropriate type of transmission fluid into the tube. Always check the fluid level with the dipstick to ensure you add the correct amount. It's best to add fluid gradually and check frequently to avoid overfilling.
Under the hood, passenger side, between the engine and the fire wall. Look down.
Look at the back of the eng. by the firewall on the passengers side, it should say TRANS on the handle
Oh, dude, the transmission dipstick on a Mercury Grand Marquis is located towards the back of the engine bay. It's usually a bright color, like yellow or red, because, you know, it wants to stand out in the crowd of car parts. Just look for a long, thin stick that's like, "Hey, I'm the transmission dipstick, come check me out!"
It is the Dipstick plug. When the transmission is manufactured they put the plug in and when they put the dipstick tube in the very first time it pushes the plug into the transmission. Nothing to worry about. Just throw it away.
