On a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis :
The automatic Transmission Fluid level dipstick is in the engine compartment ,
near the firewall , towards the passenger side of the engine
itβs black and itβs in the worst place imaginable.
There is no dipstick, the transmission is a completely sealed system. You have to take to dealer for service.
The transmission fluid dipstick is just to the left of and below the battery and fuse box.
On a 2001 Mercury Sable : The automatic transaxle ( transmission ) fluid level dipstick is near the firewall , in the area of the brake fluid reservoir , in the engine compartment
The 2004 Mercury Mountaineer does not have an automatic transmission fluid dipstick . I know that the 2002 and newer Ford Explorer four door versions do not have a dipstick for the automatic transmission fluid level .
PULL THE DIPSTICK ! * The dipstick is located between the engine and battery on the driver's side.
The transmission dipstick is located to the left of the engine on a 1996 Toyota Avalon. It is near the oil dipstick.
There is no dipstick for the transmission. There is a plug on the side of the transmission oil pan where the speedometer cable is located.

On a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer : Using a funnel , add the automatic transmission fluid through the automatic transmission fluid dipstick tube . It is located near the firewall , just to the right side ( passenger side ) of the engine , where the transmission is bolted to the rear of the engine . ( the type of transmission fluid to use should be engraved into the dipstick )
In a 1997 Nissan Altima, the transmission dipstick is located next to the motor. The dipstick has a red handle to pull out.
