It is right behind the altenator. You can barley see it but it's there, you probaly have to feel for it.
The EGR valve in a 1997 Nissan Altima is located at the top of the motor in a position near the firewall. The EGR valve is held in place by a vacuum line and 2 nuts.

On the 1997 Nissan pickup its just above the oil filter, lower right of engine, access through right front wheelwell after removing wheel, it's a screw in affair.

The purge control valve is located behind the rear wheel that is on the same side as the gas tank. By simplysliding under the bumper one can view the canister and the valve.
on the right hand inner fender you will see a long block of 4 or 5 fuses
