No you have to disconnect the wiring under the dash.
There are six steps on how to take off the engine wiring harness on a 91 Toyota Cressida. Some of the step-by-step instructions are disconnect and remove the battery, remove the old harness, and use a small screwdriver to remove the clips and retainers that hold the harness in place.

The wiring harness to the Powertrain Control Module ( PCM ) can be seen from the engine compartment . Look at the firewall on the passenger side and you will see a wiring harness that is bolted to one end of the PCM , the rest of the PCM is " hidden " behind the glove compartment
Definitely not an easy task. You would have to remove the whole dash, the ECU/TCU is located in the center bottom of the dash. Once the dash is removed the wiring harness is under the rubber material, then you would have to feed it through the firewall and on the other side (engine bay) disconnect the harness from the various engine components.

Disconnect battery, jack up passenger side of car in the front, look under the engine on passenger side, remove the bolts, disconnect the wiring and remove. Install in the reverse order.
