Theodore Roosevelt's Maltese Cross Cabin was located on the grounds of the North Dakota State Capitol from 1909 to 1959 when it was moved to the South Unit Visitor Center of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

He owned two ranches in western North Dakota, the Maltese Cross Ranch (or Chimney Butte Ranch), located south of Medora, North Dakota, and the Elkhorn Ranch, located 35 miles north of Medora, North Dakota. Teddy referred to the Elkhorn Ranch as his "home ranch".
