On a 2001 Yamaha Big Bear the Vin is located on the left side frame rail. Find the frame rail below the shift lever, follow that rail forward to where it dissapears behind the wheel well. Get down on the ground and look up behind the wheel well at the frame rail and that is where the vin is etched.

That is a 1994 model. Also, by that VIN, it was made in the Karagawa, Japan Plant. 10th digit of the vin is the year 1994 is correct
Many states require an ATV like the Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4 to have a title registered in the name of the owner. If the VIN is worn away, the title is the next source for finding out what year it was manufactured.
the eighth digit from right to left is a X . You have a 1999 model....
