Where is the air filter located on a 1996-2000 Dodge Caravan and how do you replace it?

On the right side next to the battery is a plastic unit that looks like it would house the air filter but it isn't in there, its down under this. You have to unscrew the two screws that secure the front of this housing. You also need to loosen the hose clamps on two hoses leading out from this unit... one going toward the back of the engine compartment that connects to the top of the engine and the other hose leads down under the battery. Once both hose clamps are loose take the hoses loose & pull the entire unit out(its all one piece). Look down and there will be another black housing with a cover on it. There are two clips on the side of the cover that you have to pop loose. Once they are loose take the cover off & you will see the air filter inside. Its a lot of work for just changing a filter & made no sense to me the first time I did it.

The transmission filter is screwed to the bottom of the transmission. You need to drain the fluid and remove the pan to access and/or replace the filter.

The filter is located in the pump outlet pipe above the fuel tank. Most often the tank needs to be lowered to replace the filter.
