locationof backup switch 1997 mustang
Location of backup light switch legacyThe backup light and neatral safety switch are located on the side of the trans. where your selector arm sticks out
The backup light switch is located on the side of the transmission. It has two wires coming off of it but they are probably covered in wire wrap.
I have a 1997 GT, and it is located on my transmission near the arm.
The airbag light, on your 1997 Jetta, can be reset by removing the fuse. Keep the fuse out for 10 seconds. Replace the fuse back to its original position.
If you are refering to the neutral safety/selector/backup light switch see the link. If not ask again.
Defective switch, switch not adjusted, blown fuse
a 1997 Jetta gt has struts.
I have a 98 Concorde. My backup lights stopped working and I had my independent garage mechanic check it out while working on another problem and he told me the switch is internal, inside the transmission housing. I didn't pursue it futher. I'm not about to have them tear into the transmission just to replace a simple switch. Another example of Chrysler's wonderful engineering.
Check all the fuses, if they are good you have a bad backup light switch, are a broke wire. From davidwauto@yahoo.com Hi, I just had the same problem the backup light would come on now and then. I didn't really noticed it until I had hooked up a towed vehicle with actuated brake system and a back up cut off switch. I couldn't back up the trailer when the back up light wasn't getting power. I traced everything down to the backup switch, I replaced it and everything worked out fine. The switch is connected on your tranny, there is a slightly different one for the automatic tranny vs the manual one. JQ Dancing on the edge
