It is built in, making it unable to get access without voiding the warranty. So if your battery goes bad it cannot be replaced. Also if you had researched doing a mod to your battery to run Custom Firmware you can't with the GO yet.

you can only go from 3.72 official firmware to 3.90 custom by using a Pandora battery to downgrade your psp to 1.5 then upgrade to 3.90. to obtain a Pandora battery you cam buy one from eBay or if you know someone on custom firmware, they can make one. (WARNING, once your psp battery has been turned into a Pandora battery it can't be used as a normal battery)

The short answer is no. The PSP slim "CAN" take the larger battery from the PSP-1000 series, but it sticks out and you need to get a custom battery cover for it.
