The 03 Saturn Vue does not use a stand alone camshaft sensor. The system uses the ignition system as a sensor, tapping into the number one and four cylinder firing systems.
When it happened on mine, it was the BCM going out. All the accessories & instrument panel went nuts when the key was in the on position, but when you tried to turn the car on, nothing would happen.
If the car has ABS there will be sensors there, byt ABS is optional. Here is a picture of the hub if it has it http://www.1aauto.com/1A/wheel-bearing-hub-rear/Saturn/Vue/1ASHR00057/1052199
It uses a T45 Torx bit.
A HUMMING SOUND CAN BE A BAD WHEEL BEARING.(YOU WOULD HEAR THIS AT ANY SPEED AND ANY ROAD SURFACE) Our '03 Vue hummed also. Replaced the rear wheel bearing/hub assembly...40,000 miles! My 03 Vue had a bad carrier bearing...The drive shaft is a two part design...and where the two meet is a bearing ...when mine started acting up it sounded like the rear wheel bearing..It's not easy to change you need a bearing press...
I am currently having this same issue with my 03 Vue, and I got a diagnostic done (twice). The issue seems to be the BMC. Initially, I had the same issue as you, but over about the next year, my gauges started to bounce and the powersteering goes in and out. My SERVICE light also lit up and my A/C stopped working. Hope this helps.
If the DRL's flicker, then go out, It's likely the BCM. My 2002 SL2 had the same issue. On my 03 Vue, I have found that every time a low beam burns out, the good bulb and the DRl light on the dash flash repeatedly upon putting it in gear and then it will shut the good bulb off untill the bad bulb is replaced. After that they operate as normal.
The fuel filter is located under the car behind the fuel tank on the right hand side It has 1 10mm bolt holding it on and "press" release clips for the lines
My Saturn was doing the same thing, shop said it needed throttle body 900.00. I changed the throttle body gasket , problem was solved, and I did it myself, cost me about 30.00

There are two knock sensors on the 3.0 The location depends on which year model you have. Best found from underneath. On the 2002 and 2003, one is on the front of the engine block and the other on the rear. Look underneath the exhaust manifold. The trouble codes refer to #1 and #2. My guess is that the front one is #1.
