There is no one place that is cheaper. One way to buy, if you are a collector, is to locate someone who sells coins, whether it be a dealer or another collector, and if you trust them establish a business relationship. Often, regular customers will get better deals than the casual one time buyer because the business owner knows you will probably make future purchases. Always be on the alert for good, one time deals too. These can be found at times at small local auctions and estate sales. Large, nationally advertised coin auctions and coin shows will attract a large number of coin dealers but also a large number of collectors. While you may find a good deal at these gatherings, the dealers will tend to hold out for the higher price because there are so many other buyers present who may be more willing to pay it. Some of the more rare coins will only be found at these large auctions and shows but do not expect to find a "deal" on them. When a scarce coin is offered for sale there are always many, many collectors willing to pay whatever they must to own it. If you are buying coins as an investment, buying rolls and high grade, certified coins from well known national grading companies is suggested. Certified coins will cost more initially but their grade and authenticity have been established and, historically, after a few years their value usually increases. But remember this, investing in coins is like any other financial risk you take. It has no guarantees. You could profit or you could lose.
The horn tip is in the same place on the buffalo's head on all buffalo nickels, almost directly above its eye, where the horn would protrude from the animal's skull in real life. Unfortunately design problem caused the horn to wear off rather quickly so most circulated buffalo nickels show at most a partial horn. If all of your buffalo nickels are too worn to see the horn easily, you can use any search engine to look for images of unworn coins. E.g. search for "buffalo nickel pictures" or "buffalo nickel images".
