Look on the left side of the engine,this is your right when facing the car,you cannot see it without a light.Look on the engine head to the left of the battery tray. It can be changed using an extension and a sparkplug socket.You will have to lean over the engine and reach in from the firewall side of the engine.

The Engine coolant temperature sensor is installed in a coolant passage which is located at the front left cornerof the cylinder head.

In the intake manifold, behind the alternator. About one inch to the left of the radiator hose and thermostat.
The coolant fan sensor is the same as the sensor that shows the coolant temperature on the dash gauge. It is located on the intake manifold.
Te 2000 F150 does not use a coolant temperature sensor. The engine uses a cylinder head sensor close to the head back to check the temperature.
Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor 4.6L Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor is on left side of the alternator according to the pictures on my Chilton's book. 5.4L Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor is on right side between the alternator and the top radiator hose / thermostat housing according to the pictures on my Chilton's book.
