It is bolted into the passenger side of the timing cover that's on the front of the engine just behind the harmonic balancer. You will have to slid in under the front of the engine and look up to see it. It will have a electric wireing connector plug to it.
It should be above the starter on the engine block.

That year did not use are even have a crankshaft sensor.
The 1997 Nissan pickup truck crankshaft position eight sensor can be found on the back of the engine. The positioning sensor will be halfway down the engine block.
If the engine has "coil packs" then its has to. Does your engine have a distibortor cap or coil packs?
The flex plate is the flywheel. It is between the crankshaft and torque converter. The crankshaft position sensor is located behind the passenger side cylinder head, through the top of the transmission case.
