The Engine Control Module (ECM) on my 1993 Dodge Caravan LE with the 3.3 engine is located inside the black plastic air-intake housing beside the battery, and is mounted vertically to inner left (driver) side fender support. To remove it, it is best to first disconnect & remove the battery & plastic battery tray via the (3) 15mm hex bolts, and then the air filter box assembly via (2) 10 mm hex bolts on the underside of the box (those 2 bolts are hidden; you'll have to work by feel!) Also unscrew the clamps & remove the rubber air intake hose. Next, unscrew the one 8 mm hex bolt which disconnects the multi-pin wiring-harness connector from the ECM unit itself (the bolt stays with the wiring connector and will just pull away from the ECM after it is unscrewed (keep this connector clean & dry!)). Then the ECM / air intake housing assy is unscrewed from the fender support via (2) 8mm hex bolts. The ECM computer itself is manufactured as part of the air housing / chamber-assembly and realistically doesn't look like it can be removed from the inside of the air intake assembly in the field- no reason to; a new / used ECM should come complete with the entire plastic air intake housing assembly. I'm a shade-tree mechanic with moderate skill and just replaced mine.... it took about 30 minutes to remove & maybe a little longer to re-install using small metric wrenches & ratchet / socket tools, etc. Be careful of bending & stressing the old brittle wiring harnesses, plastic air box & tubes, etc. Carefully move the wires & stuff out of the way to manipulate the assembly out from under the wire harnesses, etc. It is not too hard of a job. HINT: When ordering a new / used replacement unit, you must exactly match up the part (serial?) numbers listed on the small tag on the outside of the housing which is visible after you remove the unit. Ask the part vendor which series of numbers on your tag is the actual part / serial number needed to match up to the new replacement unit (mine was a "468-6276"). Good Luck!
