it should light up right under the speedometer on your dash when you pull it up. at least that is how it is on my 2001. if it is not lighting up, then it is either the sensor, your brakes, or the bulb in the dash. the brakes are easiest enough to test. get on a flat part of pavement, put the car in neutral, and apply the parking break. if you can push the car forward any, then they are the issue. if you can't move it, than its something else.

testing the sensor or the bulb would be very labor intensive. if your breaks are working, then the first thing i recommend is bleeding the breaks. I had an issue where my e-brake light would stay on and I bled the brakes and it resolved that issue. hopefully that will solve it.

hope this helps!

Why the emergency brake light does not come on when emergency brake is applied?

The light on the dash that says the emergency brake light is on could have burned out if it does not light up when the emergency brake is actually on. In some vehicles, this light will not light up until the car is put into gear to warn the driver that the emergency brake is still on.

What causes the brake light to come on in a 2002 Toyota Solara?

I'll hazard a guess you're asking about the brake warning light on the dash, not the brake lights at the rear of the vehicle. The warning light will come on if brake fluid falls below a certain level, if a fault is detected in the master cylinder, if there's unequal pressure in the brake lines (usually due to a leaky caliper) or other issue. It might also simply mean your emergency brake is applied or the switch is bad. Whatever the cause, don't ignore it. If you're not mechanically inclined, take the car to a brake shop, your favorite mechanic or a Toyota dealer. Brake failure is not an option. Cheers

Dash board light for brake in on Toyota Highlander 2003?

If it is your emergency brake warning light, the switch that warns you that the brake is applied may be out of adjustment.HOWEVER - if it is your brake system warning light - GET IT LOOKED AT ASAP - The vehicle's on-board computer is sensing that there's something wrong with it.

Why does the emergency brake light stay on ford explorer 2001?

If the brake fluid level in the brake master cylinder is low ( in your engine compartment ) that will also turn on your emergency brake light just as if the emergency brake was applied

Why is your brake light on and your emergency brake is down?

Check the brake fluid level, as on many vehicles the "emergency brake" (in the UK, Hand-brake) warning light also acts as a warning light for low brake-fluid.
