It is possible, along with a miss-adjusted kick-down cable or a worn kick-down band.
ITS LOCATED AT THE BACK OF TH MOTOR ON PASSENGER SIDE. DISCONNECT PLUG. PULL PLATSIC CLIP OUT ( IT SLIDES IN TO LOCK SENSOR ) REMOVE SENSOR . THATS IT . wHEN REPLACING SENSR MAKE SURE YOU HAVE NEW O RING
On the drivers side head between the first 2 spark plugs up front.
What happens with the speedometer is that the speed sensr wares down and has to be replaced. The speed sensor is located to the back of the engine. Take the clip off, then take a 10mm socket and take the bolt holding the speed sensor to the engine off. Then replace the sensor with a new one bolt it into place. Put the clip back on and it should work. The speed sensor is one of the main reasons why it doesnt work.
you'll need a replacement sensor with either an exact fit or universal connector. The front sensor is visible sticking out of the exhaust pipe, if you open the hood and look near the bottom of the engine underneath the air intake tube (big plastic piece connected to air filter housing that bolts in above radiator). Rent a o2 sensor socket for free from an auto shop. You'll probably need to remove the air intake tube to access the o2 sensor, easy to do by unbolting and pulling off from air filter housing. Disconnect old sensor from electrical plug, and remove with the o2 sensr socket. replace with the new sensor and replace the air intake tube... whole thing takes 30 minutes at most.
