The rear expansion valve on a 2002 Windstar is located behind the left rear panel(driver's side cover just inside the rear hatch spanning to the left side door) The expansion valve is in-line and connected to the rear evaperator core. It has a nut style fitting on each end so you will need to hold the valve in place when loosening/tightening the fittings. You can do this with an open end wrench.
