Fuel filter is mounted on the bulkhead behind the engine. Look down the back of the engine and you will see a cylindrical part mounted vertivally on the bulkhead.
It is located under the vehicle approximately 2 feet inside from the fuel filler, right next to the inline fuel filter. It is a small black box with an electrical connector and a tube running into it. One of the best kept secrets that cause a lot of trouble. Check that before the fuel pump which has a rip-off repair bill.
It may be in need of a tune up, spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter.
It typically refers to the fuel storage. Coal bunkers or fuel oil bunkers are where the fuel is kept.
Try checking the fuel injector and carburetor
Aviation fuel is kept from freezing from a additive called FSII, Fuel system icing inhibitor which is added in the fuel at approx 0.015%. hope this helps, let me know if you would like more info and ill go more in detail with it, Brent
my 1997 Geo Metro acts the same way, I was able to figure out that it was a fuel problem because I sprayed some carburetor cleaner into the air filter compartment and it started, it would keep running as long as I kept spraying. I mentioned it to a mechanic friend and he suggested I replace the fuel pump relay. Based on my own experience with other cars, when its time to replace the relay it is usually time to replace the fuel pump too, because it might be starting to have a problem that causes the relay to overload.
As long as no moisture has penetrated the filter there is no time limit .
I had two issues with my 2002 Tribute last year... One was a dirty valve cover underneath that kept sticking open. This only happened when it rained. Took my guy two seconds to clean it. The second problem was my alternator. Had that replaced, now my car is doing great.
I am having the same problem with a 99 Protege. I have changed the alternator and aligned/cleaned the pulleys and the problem persists.I replaced the alternator, on my 1997 Mazda Protege, seven times before someone figured out why the serpentine belt kept breaking. It was the belt tensioner! It had to be removed and rebuilt. Now it is working like a charm!! And I havn't had to replace the alternator in over 3 months!!!!

fuel filter is in the gas tank, in the fuel pump assembly. The filter is integral to the unit, and includes the fuel pressure regulator. Cost at dealer is about 60$, you have to drop the gas tank, remove the pump assembly, and pull it out of the top. Many parts dealers wont stock it, and most will sell it only as part of the submersible pump assembly. Its not easy to do as regular maintenance. It uses on of the Dodge quick disconnect attachments. I had a fuel contamination problem, and kept getting my injectors clogged with some red oily substance. Replaced the whole unit at about 130k, after taking it all apart. Dodge parts man suggested that if it was clogged, then wear on the pump was likely, and the only way to get the pump is with a total unit. If your doing this shop around, the part can vary from 220 to 350 $. Good Luck
