Never seen a vehicle with a fuel filter light on the dash. Not to say there isn't one, but I have never seen one myself nor have I heard of a vehicle with such a light.
remove the black plug from sensor on top of the filter with ignition in the off position,start the engine,replace the plug and the light will be off. I tried this but the light is still on!
A 1998 Ram with the Cummins diesel has a water in fuel indicator on the dash that will illuminate if there is water in the fuel filter housing.

After replacing the timing belt and fuel filter, the lights can be reset. The method changes depending on the model and year. Some of them use the trip meter button and the ignition switch, others use a concealed button on the dash, others have a switch on the back of the dash.

A clogged or defective fuel filter will very likely cause a check engine light. If it is suspected, it should be replaced.
